LOS ANGELES (Top40 Charts/ Jim Lauderdale Official Website) - JIM LAUDERDALE received a Grammy nomination when his latest album Could We Get Any Closer was honored in the Best Bluegrass Album category. Lauderdale is also in the mix in two other categories this year: he co-wrote two songs on George Strait's album Twang (including the title track) which is up for "Best Country Album" and as a member of Elvis Costello's band The Sugarcanes, whose album Secret, Profane, and Sugarcane is nominated for Best Contemporary Folk Album.

"There's so much great bluegrass music out there, I'm excited my own record got nominated," says the Nashville-based singer, songwriter and musician, "and it was also an honor to be a part of George and Elvis' projects and I wish them luck."

On the new music front, Lauderdale has just completed the recording of his upcoming album Patchwork Quilt, which he co-wrote with longtime Grateful Dead lyricist Robert Hunter.

Lauderdale has written hits with Patty Loveless, George Strait, and others and also recently returned as host of the 2009 Americana Music Awards in Nashville.
