New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Echo Creek Official Website) - Members of a 1980s Hickman Mills High School garage band have reunited 25 years later after finding each other on Facebook. The group, Echo Creek, which plays everything from classic rock to country songs, is excited that the era of new media reconnected an old sound. 'It's amazing that a group of guys who were tight 25 years ago, found each other through social networking,' said Lance Murkin, Echo Creek lead singer. 'Fast forward! All of a sudden, we are in a place where we can play music together again!"
Three members of the group formed the original band in 1984 when they were students at Hickman Mills High School. Back then, the guys practiced in a garage and played for friends and family.
Once band members rediscovered each other, they took up their drums and guitars for encores, and recently landed the premier music spot on the KCTV-5 Price Chopper Locker Room Show. This weekly pre-game Chiefs program is recorded before a live audience, and airs Sunday mornings at 10 a.m.
'Echo Creek brings life and energy to our pre-game show. The band really get the guests and the audience rocking,' said Leif Lisec, host of the KCTV-5 Locker Room Show.
The band is scheduled to perform at Lee's Summit establishments in October and November, and uses the web to promote its performances (see schedule below). Besides original music, Echo Creek also play tunes from the Beatles to Bellamy Brothers, and the Eagles to Black Crowes--all groups who peaked before the internet immerged and Facebook was one word. "I was just happy to find these guys after all these years,' said Glen Hockemeir, Echo Creek drummer. 'I had no idea it would turn into an opportunity for us to play music together again, laugh about the old days, and have this much success."
