New York (Top40 Charts/ Shore Fire Media) -
Fresh from his "Best Traditional Folk Album" Grammy nomination for 'High Wide and Handsome: The Charlie Poole Project' (2nd Story Sound Records), Loudon Wainwright III will tour throughout 2010 to support the highly acclaimed two-CD package. On the lavishly packaged set, Wainwright performs the beguiling ballads, blues and novelty songs of country pioneer Poole, as well as nine new songs about the singer and picker's life and times written especially for the album. 'High Wide Handsome' features such acoustic music luminaries as Chris Thile, Geoff Muldaur and Rob Moose, along with Wainwright's distinguished extended family members: Martha and
Rufus Wainwright, Lucy Wainwright Roche,
Sloan Wainwright, Maggie Roche, Terre Roche, and Suzzy Roche.
Check out Robert Christgau's review, which aired recently on NPR's All Things Considered: https://bit.ly/36uV4T
On MSN Online, Christgau gives the album an 'A' grade, writing, "I'm more likely to play the canny reconstruction that the certified original."
