New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ ChatterBox Publicity) - In the world of Hip Hop, a new decade signifies the launch pad of a growing career for thousands of rap hopefuls and aspiring artists. The difference between those that will survive and thrive in this decade over the defeated relies solely on talent and creativity. Hailing from the DC/ Maryland/ Virginia area, better known as the 'DMV,' also the home base for new artist, Wale, SIMP is confident in his ability, proclaiming that 'He's got next!'

Who is SIMP? The word SIMP, an abbreviation for SIMPle, is actually the opposite of what one would think about this artist. He is far from SIMPle but earned this nickname as a child because of his laid-back approach to life. Before swagger, there was SIMP, the cool dude who never took things too serious, who walked with confidence and a clear understanding of who he was destined to be. As a teen, the nickname took a more complex meaning. SIMP began to hone his craft by illustrating thought-provoking subjects in a manner that left his listeners mentally exhausted from his lyrical journal and vivid imagery. SIMP, a Hampton University graduate, makes no excuses for not having the traditional street upbringing of most rappers. 'If you want to test me, you better start cramming,' states SIMP in the track 'Cannon.'

His new mixtape, 'The Challenger,' is just a taste of SIMP's ability. By using some of the hottest tracks of 2009, SIMP declares, 'Before you can become the champion, you must first be the challenger.' One of the most memorable tracks on the mixtape is 'The Ruler of the C.' From Cataclysmic, craniums, cadavers, to czar, SIMP shows his wizardry of word play by using words that begin with the letter 'C.' Another popular cut on the compilation is 'Run This Town.' To pacify hip hop lovers before his mixtape drops, he has released the video for 'Run This Town' on YouTube.
The video, which was shot in Atlanta and directed by Mike Moore of Studio 8, makes it difficult to believe that the featured artist is an upcoming rapper as opposed to an established one. By the end of the video, SIMP makes a convincing argument that his choice to call himself the challenger is just a humbling act to pay respect to those that are dominating hip hop today. It's clear that within no time, he'll need to drop a follow up titled, The Champion, ' as declared in one of his rhymes, ' I'm on my hustle like Russell.'
