New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Shore Fire Media) - What's on Michelle Obama's iPod? "I like this young woman Ledisi," the First Lady told People Magazine in an interview in this week's issue. "She's got that really pretty voice." Ledisi was ecstatic to read that Mrs. Obama is a fan of her music, and the news put the R soul singer - whose recent album 'Turn Me Loose' earned two GRAMMY nominations - over the moon. "To be nominated again this year for two GRAMMYs is one of the highest honors for an entertainer like me. It is incredibly overwhelming and exciting," explains Ledisi. "I have the same feeling knowing that our First Lady, Mrs. Obama, listens to my music and enjoys the gift I have been given. The Obamas inspire me and so many, and I am beyond ecstatic that I can give them something back through my music." It's easy to see why Mrs. Obama and many others are swooning over Ledisi. Check out Ledisi's fierce talent as she performs "Higher Than This" from 'Turn Me Loose' on The Mo'Nique Show last month https://www.bet.com/video/732105. And at the BET Celebration of Gospel 10th Anniversary Special, Ledisi showed she can deliver an emotional performance in any genre.
