LOS ANGELES (Peter Frampton & A. Schawrzenegger Websites) -
Peter Frampton's upcoming album
Now has an unplanned connection to Arnold Schwarzenegger and the California governor's race. In the chorus of the song "I'm Back," he sings, "I'm back/Like Schwarzenegger in the Terminator."
Frampton said that he and cowriter Gordon Kennedy came up with the track a while ago, and they couldn't have imagined how timely it would be now: "When we wrote that - that was, what, 18 months ago? Maybe even a little bit more? So, you know, Gordon and I couldn't believe it," Frampton said. "We're trying to get it to him now. Then someone says, 'Well, do you really want to endorse him?' I said, 'Well, I don't know - I'm not running. He's a liberal conservative.'"
While he might not exactly be in Schwarzenegger's corner, Frampton also said that Fleetwood Mac did pretty well by being attached to President Bill Clinton, so maybe teaming up with the potential California governor could work out for him.
Now comes out August 26. It's Frampton's first new studio album since his self-titled release in 1994.
Frampton's next show is Friday (August 15) at the Frederick Brown Jr, Amphitheater in Peachtree City. He's got a few more dates left on his own summer tour before he kicks off a run of dates on August 30 that are being presented by the VH1 Classic cable network.
