LOS ANGELES (Gravitas Entertainment press release) - Jewel has caught the acting bug for real. Since making her first film debut in 1999's Ride With The Devil, the singer has taken on more responsibility as an entertainer. She will star in, develop, and produce the upcoming independent feature called Wave about a mother who reconnects with her son after spending time in prison. Jewel will portray the role of the son's girlfriend.

Jewel's own production company Gravitas Entertainment acquired the script, and teamed up with Goldie Hawn's Clearlight Productions, a division of Cosmic Entertainment, which will finance the film. Cosmic is headed by Hawn, Kurt Russell, Kate Hudson, and Oliver Hudson.

Jewel hits the road for a fall tour, starting September 19 in North Charleston, South Carolina, in support of her latest album, 0304 which features the single "Intuition."
