LOS ANGELES (Top40 Charts/ Warner Bros. Records) - Reprise Records' Green Day won a 2010 Grammy Award for "Best Rock Album" for their 2009 album 21st Century Breakdown. The band accepted the award during last night's ceremony held at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. They also performed the album's two-time Grammy-nominated platinum single " 21 Guns" live with the Broadway cast of the stage musical American Idiot, which opens in New York City on April 20th. This is the fourth Grammy win for Green Day. The band has previously won in the "Best Rock Album" category for their blockbuster 2004 album American Idiot, as well as in the "Record of the Year" category for the American Idiot single, "Boulevard of Broken Dreams," and in the "Best Alternative Music Performance" category for their Diamond-certified 1993 album Dookie. Last year, Green Day, which is singer-guitarist Billie Joe Armstrong, bassist Mike Dirnt, and drummer Tre Cool, won three 2009 MTV Video Music Awards for "21 Guns" ("Best Rock Video," "Best Cinematography," and "Best Direction"), an MTV Europe Music Award for "Best Rock," and an American Music Award for "Favorite Alternative Rock Music Artist." The video for the new version of "21 Guns," featuring Green Day performing with the cast of American Idiot, premieres on AOL Music today.
