New York (Top40 Charts/ Shore Fire Media) - Al Di Meola, voted Best Jazz Guitarist by Guitar Player readers over 11 times and more often than any other guitarist, is showing off his "impressive stylistic range" (NY Times) on tour with acoustic group World Sinfonia. During the east coast leg of the tour, "the international sextet delivered impassioned, intricate tunes that wedded jazz, rock and folk traditions" (Hartford Courant). This week, the band kicks off the second leg of the tour heading west to Dallas, TX with 13 shows remaining including dates in Austin, Tuscon and various Californian cities.

Di Meola - who has awed legions for decades with jaw-dropping fingerwork since he first joined the archetypal jazz-fusion superstar band Return to Forever at age 19 - has of late been exploring the music of Latin America, Spain and Italy with the musicians of World Sinfonia, resulting in performances that All About Jazz raved were "pure emotion - satisfying, sensual, complex and joyful."

A New Jersey native, Di Meola has recorded 26 solo albums throughout his career, selling some 6 million CD's, including four gold-certified albums, in a range of styles from avant to ambient. With World Sinfonia, Di Meola builds around a core of Argentine Tango, in a heady stylistic amalgam that moves audiences through full range of emotions, often mixing fiery passion with delicate arrangements - pausing only fleetingly to inspire visible astonishment with the legendary speed and precision that's among his trademarks.

'World Sinfonia: Live From Seattle And Elsewhere,' an album recorded in Seattle, San Francisco and Istanbul and featuring Fausto Beccalossi (accordion), Peo Alfonsi (guitar), Gumbi Ortiz (percussion), Peter Kaszas (drums/ percussion), Victor Miranda (bass) and Husnu Selendiriki (Turkish clarinet) is available now.
