Haw River, NC (Top40 Charts/ Redeye Distribution) - They are two of the hottest and most nationally recognized
Texas touring bands in the country. Separately, Reckless
Kelly and Cross Canadian Ragweed have long led the Red Dirt Revolution and, after partnering for charitable events and awards shows in years past, the two bands will finally join together for a truly Ragged and Reckless tour beginning March 3 in Nashville, Tennessee.
"I'll probably come back with a couple of good stories from [that run], I imagine," laughs Willy Braun of Reckless Kelly. "It's been a while since we've done a full-on tour with those guys, so that will be pretty fun."
The decision to tour together arose after both bands returned from the sold-out 2010 MusicFest in Steamboat Springs where they shared the stage with Robert Earl Keen, Lee Ann Womack, Chris Knight, Dean Dillon and more. However, the relationship between the two bands extends to early days when they had similar performance circuits, including Lucy's in Austin, Texas-where both bands now call home.
"We've toured with a ton of bands," remarks Cross Canadian Ragweed's Cody Canada. "The two that we would tour non-stop with year round is Robert Earl Keen and Reckless Kelly. We first saw Reckless Kelly in 1998 in Dallas and our jaws dropped, and we said that's who we need to jam with. After a couple of years of chasing those guys we finally got to be friends with them. There's not a harder working band of brothers than our two bands and we wear that like a badge of honor. We look forward to this run and the rehab that follows."
Reckless Kelly is currently celebrating their seventh studio release this week with Somewhere in Time [buy now]-a record that pays homage to legendary singer/songwriter Pinto Bennett and has Associated Press raving, "[the music] is fun, poignant, authentic and completely deserving of this tribute." While earlier this year Reckless was nominated for Duo/Group of the Year during the Americana Music Awards, the band is now celebrating the Top 10 debut of Somewhere in Time on the Americana Music Association radio charts.
Cross Canadian Ragweed recently celebrated their 15th anniversary and over 1 million albums sold, including their recent release Happiness and All the Other Things that hit shelves last August and marked their 10th album release. USA Today recently named them "one of the better-kept secrets around," and went on to say, "as usual, their best stuff is so good you wonder why more people aren't noticing." With singles such as "Fightin' For" entering Top 40 on the country charts, Ragweed is known for sell-out shows across the country.
Together, Reckless Kelly and Cross Canadian Ragweed offer a unique concert experience that promises to be leave fans both ragged and reckless.
