Hear Paddy Moloney/Ry Cooder Marry Mexican And Irish Musical Traditions On 'La Iguana'

New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Shore Fire Media) - On 'San Patricio,' multiple Grammy winners Paddy Moloney of the Chieftains and Ry Cooder seamlessly blend the musical styles and instruments of Mexico, Ireland and America to tell the story of the brave San Patricio battalion that deserted the United States Army to join the Mexican side in the Mexican-American War. "La Iguana," sung by Mexican-American singer Lila Downs, puts an Irish jig twist on the traditional Mexican musical style Son Jarocho from Veracruz.

'San Patricio' (out March 9) was produced by Paddy Moloney and Ry Cooder, and features a brilliant roster, including Linda Ronstadt, actor Liam Neeson, Van Dyke Parks, Los Tigres Del Norte, legendary 92-year-old Mexican ranchero singer Chavela Vargas, among many others.

The Chieftains kick off a month-long U.S. tour on February 17 in Davis, CA. In select markets they will be joined by special guests and perform selections from 'San Patricio.'
