Announcement of the Acquisition of the Dexter Gordon Recorded Sound Collection by Gene DeAnna, Head, Recorded Sound Section, Motion Picture, Broadcasting and Recorded Sound (MBRS) Division, Library of Congress "The Making of Round Midnight," a talk by Maxine Gordon, jazz scholar and wife of Dexter Gordon will follow announcement of the acquisition.

Please join us for a breakfast reception following the event.

This Dexter Gordon Recorded Sound Collection will be housed in the Library of Congress Packard Campus for Audio-Visual Conservation, 19053 Mount Pony Road, Culpeper, VA 22701-7551. All material will be digitized and cataloged for researchers and many of Dexter Gordon's unreleased recordings will be made available for streaming on the Library of Congress website.

Library of Congress Jazz Film Series - 'Round Midnight'

Maxine Gordon, jazz scholar and wife of Dexter Gordon, will give a short introduction to the film and there will be a question and answer period following the screening.

The screening is free, but seating is limited. Reservations may be made by phone, beginning one week before the screening (the week of April 12). Call (202) 707-5677 during business hours (Monday-Friday, 9:00 am to 4:00 pm).

Reserved seats must be claimed at least 10 minutes before show time, after which standbys will be admitted to unclaimed seats. Programs subject to change without notice.
