The confirmed line-up includes: MPress Records flagship artist & Independent Music Award winner Rachael Sage; newest signing Seth Glier, an environmentally conscious artist touring North America behind his new album The Trouble With People; New York via California singer/pianist Katie Costello, who has been featured prominently on KCRW; The Mieka Canon, featuring Mieka Pauley, the 2009 NY Songwriters Circle Grand Prize & Cosmopolitan Magazine Star Launch Award Winner; Boston-based indie maverick Melissa Ferrick; The Paper Raincoat featuring Brooklyn, NY duo Amber Rubarth & Alex Wong (formerly of The Animators); and Australian pop rock act The Kin.
New ArrivalsThis event will double as the CD Release for Rachael Sage's upcoming 9th album 'Delancey Street'. At MPressFest, she will be previewing tracks from the album with her band The Sequins. Sage was recently featured in Keyboard Magazine, The NY Times, New York Magazine, Time Out NY and NY Daily News, and was honored by Performing Songwriter as one of the '100 Most Influential Independent Artists of the Past 15 Years." 'Delancey Street' will be available for download on April 20th & in stores May 18th.
The schedule features artists from MPress Records' compilation series New Arrivals. Launched in 2006, the New Arrivals annual charity compilation series features established and rising indie artists and each benefits a charity - Volume 1 benefited Gulf Coast Hurricane Relief, Volume 2 benefited World Hunger Year, and Volume 3 benefited NEDA (National Eating Disorders Association). New Arrivals Volume 4, slated for release in October 2010 will benefit The National Network for Youth.
MPressFest SXSW 2010 @ The SOHO Lounge (217 E. 6th Street, Austin, TX) Saturday March 20th. Doors open at 12:00 PM, and music starts shortly thereafter.
