New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Girlie Action Media & Marketing) - Walter Schreifels is an artist who has been in perpetual motion for well over 20 years. On An Open Letter To The Scene, he reflects on his legacy while shapeshifting creatively yet again, this time gravitating towards a decidedly stripped-down, mostly acoustic sound. Though he's played in countless bands, this album is remarkably his first solo effort. Accordingly An Open Letter is the first musical world that is entirely Walter's own vision. Overall, it might also be his most personal statement yet.

Walter's musical roots began with late 80's hardcore scene he helped perpetuate. He played in array of bands including hugely influential groups like Youth of Today and Gorilla Biscuits (for whom he was the primary songwriter). He achieved continued success with post-hardcore heavyweights Quicksand in the 90's and the melodic, yet hard-hitting outfit Rival Schools in the 2000's.

Kicking off the new decade, Walter is once again highlighting a side of himself that his fans might have only caught a glimpse of in the past. But as with his all of his work, the new material is definitely still a descendent of his body of work to date. Walter's past and present collide most noticeably on tracks like 'Society Suckers,' a cover of Agnostic Front's classic anthem, as well as the heartfelt title track. That isn't to say that the album doesn't have it's lighter moments, as evident by the tongue-in-cheek 'Ballad of Lil' Kim.'

From start to finish An Open Letter pairs memorable lyrics with melodies one instantly latches onto. However, the most magnetic quality to the album might be how effortless it all sounds. Walter's greatest strength may be that he has the ability of expressing personal themes in a way that makes them universal.

Also, keep a lookout for a new Rival Schools album... details coming soon!
