Matthews said the album grew out of "a few songs that never really had a place with the band, so during a break, I decided to go into the studio to see what might develop." Some Devil consists of previously unreleased material, except for one song, "Gravedigger," a Dave Matthews Band staple at live shows. Two versions of the song - one with the full band, the other acoustic - appear on Some Devil. Matthews enlisted the help of longtime friend and collaborator Tim Reynolds to assist on Some Devil. Also appearing on the album is Phish guitarist Trey Anastasio.
The Dave Matthews Band will play a free concert in New York City's Central Park today (Wednesday, September 24). About 100,000 people are expected to attend.
