NASHVILLE, Tenn. (George Strait Fans Website) - George Strait returns to the road in early 2004 for a 21-city tour across 16 states. Dierks Bentley ("What Was I Thinkin'") and Kellie Coffey ("When You Lie Next to Me") will be the opening acts on the tour launching in the middle of January.
Only one concert date has been officially announced - a Jan. 31 stop at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

Tickets for that show go on sale Oct. 4. Set to run through March, the tour will find Strait performing in the round at large arenas. The prices are $50, $75 and $90 and will be available at the MGM Grand Garden Arena box office and at all Ticketmaster outlets. A complete list of George Strait 2004 tour dates will be announced soon.

For the George Strait 2004 Tour, Strait will, once again, play to large arenas with a center stage configuration allowing him to face all sides of the crowd throughout his show. His opening acts for the entire run of the tour will be Capitol recording artist Dierks Bentley ("What Was I Thinkin'") and BNA recording artist Kellie Coffey ("When You Lie Next To Me").

With over 57 million records sold and a record 50 No 1 hits, George Strait is one of the most popular recording artists in history. He consistently sells out arenas during each tour and has broken attendance records at Memphis' Pyramid, the Houston Astrodome and many others. He is also one of the most critically acclaimed artists of our time. His last tour saw only rave reviews for the stalwart performer. The San Jose Mercury News reported, "George Strait was simplicity at its best," the Cleveland Plain Dealer raved, "Let others try the gimmicks and swivel their hips; Strait has figured out that it's the poetry in the lyrics that makes country what it is," and Albany Times Union in Albany, New York wrote "Simply put, Strait made every person in the sold-out house feel like he was singing straight to them."

Throughout his unparalleled 22-year career, Strait has earned four American Music Awards, 12 Academy of Country Music Awards including 2003's Gene Weed Special Achievement award, 15 Country Music Association Awards and countless trade and industry achievements.
Strait holds the career record for CMA nominations with 71 and he is nominated again this year for the CMA's Male Vocalist of the Year honor. He has released 31 albums - all of which have hit gold or platinum status. His latest release Honkytonkville, is in stores now.
