Austin, TX (Top40 Charts/ Mark Pucci Media) - Texas World Records announces a September 21 release date for Honky Tonk Merry Go Round, the new CD from The Lucky Tomblin Band, distributed nationally by Burnside Distribution. On its fourth album, The Lucky Tomblin Band continues to deliver the perfect soundtrack for a Texas Saturday night, as great for listenin' as it is for dancin'. Led by Lucky's lead vocals, the band boasts a veritable 'who's who' of Austin's finest musicians: Earl Poole Ball on piano, Redd Volkaert on lead guitar, Sarah Brown on bass, John Reed on guitar, Jon Hahn on drums and Bobby Arnold on rhythm guitar.

Piano man Earl Poole Ball performed for over 20 years as a member of Johnny Cash's band and played on landmark recordings by The Byrds (Sweetheart of the Rodeo) and Gram Parsons. Telecaster master Redd Volkaert's guitar work has dropped lots of jaws in the audience and on record, having been a member of Merle Haggard's band for many years, as well as playing with Ray Price, Dale Watson and a guest appearance on Brad Paisley's Grammy-winning album. Bassist Sarah Brown was a mainstay of the Antone's house band and has toured and recorded with a host of blues and roots stars from Dr. John and Marcia Ball to Dave Alvin and Albert Collins.

Guitar player John Reed has worked with such Texas greats as Joe Ely, Butch Hancock, and Jimmie Dale Gilmore, as well as the legendary Doug Sahm. Jon Hahn's drum work has graced albums and stages with Radney Foster, The Flatlanders and Rosie Flores, among others. And while rhythm guitar player Bobby Arnold's main gig has been as a recording engineer, he's worked on albums with some of the greatest legends in the business, including Willie Nelson, Ray Charles and Les Paul.

While Lucky Tomblin handles the lion's share of the lead singing on Honky Tonk Merry Go Round, the group is a true band democracy in the vocal department, with Ball, Volkaert, Brown, Reed and Arnold each singing lead vocals on two tracks.

Produced by acclaimed Austin producer Lloyd Maines (who also adds his trademark pedal steel guitar throughout) and recorded at Blue Rock Artists Ranch and Studios in Wimberley, Texas, Honky Tonk Merry Go Round contains 14 tracks of pure Texas dancehall music poured straight in a glass chock full with roadhouse energy. In addition to a number of original songs written by various band members, the new CD delves into the honky tonk songbook that includes such noted writers as Mel Tillis ('Wine'), Hank Cochran ('Don't You Ever Get Tired of Hurting Me'), Floyd Tillman and Jimmy Davis ('It Makes No Difference Now'), Willie Nelson ('I'd Rather You Didn't Love Me') and Bill Anderson ('I'll Go Down Swinging'). The title track was originally recorded by the immortal Patsy Cline.

Revered from Paris, Texas to Paris, France, The Lucky Tomblin Band brings the kind of honest, pure honky tonk country music that always makes this group a fan-favorite at clubs, festivals and dancehalls all over the planet. As one reviewer said, 'If you like honky tonk swing from Texas - where it was more or less invented - a Lucky Tomblin Band record is the solution to your problem... these are friendly, acutely talented people having a hell of a good time.' That good time will be shared by all who listen to Honky Tonk Merry Go Round; and on this ride, EVERYONE gets to grab the brass ring!
