Los Angeles, CA (Top40 Charts/ El Clasificado.com) - Mod music seekers flocked to Al Borde's free Acoustic Sessions on Friday, July 23rd for an unprecedented evening that showcased the artistry of local female talent including the musicianship of headliner Pilar Diaz and songstress Carla Morrison. The female expose', which was held at El Gallo Plaza in East Los Angeles, reaffirmed Al Borde's continued support and avant garde approach to the evolution of the Los Angeles music and arts community. Captivating the nearly three hundred in attendance, headliner Pilar Diaz performed songs from her self-titled album release and kicked off her set with her ukelele-heavy “Pin~ata” single. With uke in hand, the Spanish-pop/indie rock performer also charmed the animated crowd as she was accompanied by guitarist Gloria Estrada of L.A. indie favorite La Santa Cecilia. As opening performer, Carla Morrison set the mood for an evening of women-powered melodic tunes and art displays with a repertoire of songs from her forthcoming album, “Mientras tu dormias”. The singer/songwriter also surprised attendees by introducing her newly recruited drummer, Alejandra Parral, a freshman musician from Mexico's emerging female-led underground ska scene. The all-female lineup accentuates Al Bordes reputation as vital supporter of the alter Latino community by acknowledging the innovation of female musicianship on the rise. “Veteran rockers such as myself remember when Al Borde was just a fanzine”, states Edgar Bautista, elementary school teacher and follower of Al Borde since its inception in the late 1990's. “Then it evolved into a niche publication, then it went online, and now they produce their own live events. It's gone through and survived the same metamorphosis as the Spanish rock scene in Los Angeles has and that's why we continue to support Al Borde.com, because they support us.” In addition to the performances of these leading voices, attendees also danced to the electro-pop mashups of DJ's Carlos and La Muy Muy of hipster party event, Metropoli. Guests were also presented by an art display curated by noted muralist Steven “Chatismo” Amado, that showcased the work of independent female artists from the neighboring East Los Angeles areas. Event sponsors for the AlBorde.com acoustic show were Monster Beverage Co., Kas Ma's and Manzanita Sol, Pepsi, and El Clasificado. “Al Bordes Acoustic Sessions” is a series of free intimate concerts presented by Al Borde, a premier Latin alternative media outlet reaching the 18- to 34-year-old Hispanic demographic.
