Port of Palm Beach, FL (Top40 Charts/ Celebration Cruise Line) - Celebration Cruise Line will kick off its $250,000 Caribbean Idol Karaoke Contest starting with its September 1, 2010 two-night cruise to the Bahamas. Contestants will compete for a free cruise on every sailing, with a maximum of 15 singers competing for $10,000 each month. A maximum of 18 finalists will compete for $100,000 in early June, along with other assorted prizes to be awarded.

The cruise line will hold auditions on the ship, with a maximum of 20 singers for each of three audition sessions per cruise. Each session will have a winner, as voted by the audience, and those three winners will compete for a free cruise and a chance to move on to the month-end semi-final contest to compete for $10,000 against just 14 other cruise winners. Singers are urged to sign-up at the time of booking their cruise so they don't miss out on the opportunity to compete. Given the significant prize money, audition spots are expected to fill up quickly.

There will be a $10,000 winner chosen each month from September through May, with those nine winners competing for the $100,000 grand prize during the first week in June. Celebration may offer an online voting component as well, which would increase the number of finalists competing for the $100,000 grand prize from nine to eighteen contestants. Either way, the odds are favorable for a talented singer.

'One of the most popular activities on our ship is karaoke,' said Glenn Ryerson, sales & marketing senior vice president for the cruise line. 'When we discussed a karaoke contest internally we kept raising the stakes to make it more exciting for participants and fortunately the meeting ended before we went any higher than $250,000.'

The contest is open to all non-professional singers ages 14 and up. A non-professional is defined as a person who has never had a record contract with more than a thousand records sold.

'We believe this contest will be as fun for the audience as for the singers as they decide who wins and moves on to the next level,' explained Ryerson. 'The winner of the contest has to perform only four times total to win the $100,000 grand prize, which we think is very exciting.'
Contestants can call 800-995-3254 or visit www.IdolCelebration.com for more information.
