Chicago Tribune Media Group) - Tribune Media Group invites those of all ages to 'rock on' to live music and 'pig out' with the best barbeque joints at the first-annual three-day Rockin' on the River Ribfest August 13, 14 and 15. The festival will be held at Freedom Center located at 560 West Grand Avenue on the
Chicago River. With ample parking, a prime location along the
Chicago River and the
Chicago skyline as a picturesque backdrop, this space is ideal for concerts and festivals.
Performances will be held on two stages throughout the day, featuring live shows by Good Charlotte, Colt Ford, Virginia Coalition and country star Chris Cagle as well as Chicago's very own Too White Crew and Dave Matthews cover band, Trippin Billies. Rockin' on the River Ribfest offers food lovers the opportunity to enjoy an endless array of barbeque ribs, chicken, pulled pork, tasty sauces and much more from eight national and four local rib vendors. The national rib teams include Rasta Joe's BBQ, Famous Dave's, The Barbeque Company, Jack on the Bone, Texas Thunder, Johnson's Bar-B-Que and Porky and Bean's. Local barbeque masters include Bar-B-Que Bob's, Robinson's No. 1 Ribs, Smoke Daddy and Uncle Bub's. A variety of other food as well as a beer and wine garden will also be available.
The Tribune Media Group Rockin' on the River Ribfest is presented in association with Miller Lite. Sponsors of the event include Pepsi Max and Dodge. Pepsi Max invites attendees to bring a Pepsi Max can or 20 ounce bottle to the gate and receive three dollars off general admission. Dodge invites children eight and under to enjoy free admission and participate in a variety of activities from moon jumps, face painting to a power wheels driving course at the sponsored Kids Corner.
A VIP Rockin' Lounge will be available to those seeking premium viewing of the main stage performances and an inclusive food buffet.
The festival hours are from 11 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and from 11 a.m. to 8:30p.m. Sunday. Tickets are available at the gate for $10 general admission and $25 VIP admission.
