Toronto, Ontario (Top40 Charts/ Canadian Chinese Idol) - China's No 1 superstar Laure Shang will perform in Toronto on October 17, 2010, marking this historical performance as a first for China and Canada. Shang sang the epic theme song, "23 Seconds 32 Years" in the most successful Chinese movie of all time, Aftershock which just debuted at 2010 Toronto International Film Festival. This performance will take place as part of the Opening Ceremonies Concert for Canadian Chinese Idol at the Chinese Cultural Center in Toronto, Ontario.

Entertainment and culture reach out like helping hands, opening the door wider for connecting Canada and China. This historical event celebrates the 40 years of relations between Canada and China. 2010 also brought China's president Hu Jintau to the G8 & G20 summits arriving early to sign a tourism agreement establishing Approved Destination Status (ADS) between Canada and China. In attendance will be Consulate-General of the People's Republic of China in Toronto, Markham mayor Frank Scarpitti and the Mayor of Richmond Hill Dave Burrow. (list of high profile attendees below)

Laure Shang is the champion of the third season (2006) of a singing contest in China, Super Girls or Super Voice Girl. Before winning Super Girls with over 5 million votes, Shang worked as a Chinese-French translator at a publishing house and majored in French at the prestigious Fudan University. With the film Aftershock grossing over $100 million before even hitting North America, it is obviously destined for greater success. This has skyrocketed Shang to the No 1 artist in China with comparisons to vocal powerhouse Celine Dion.

Singing in Chinese, French and English is sure to expand her audience internationally especially after the release of her first English album which she is currently working on.
Shang's music has also progressed from sophisticated French and Chinese power ballads to a more dance pop feel with catchy songs like 'Miss Lane Crawford' and her latest release 'S.O.S.' Her dance pop music along with her elaborate stage costumes now draws comparisons to Lady GaGa. Laure's English album in the works has her music progressing further drawing comparisons to R&B artists like Alicia Keys.
