New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Your Divine Tragedy Official Website) - Seattle's hard rock band Your Divine Tragedy partnered with Sparks this summer to bring free music to national fans via Sparks' Digital Playlist. Digital Kiosks all of the country provided Sparks drinkers with free music from outstanding independent artists like Seattle's hard rock powerhouse, Your Divine Tragedy.

Sparks is a malt liqueur beverage/ energy drink combination that since it's release just a few years ago has become a favorite among rockers and fans. As it becomes more readily available nationwide in supermarkets, convenience stores, and in many bars, it's become an obvious choice for concerts and parties. Drinkers are turning to Sparks for a light, energy inducing buzz that doesn't weigh them down on stage or in the pits.

With their single Red Letter Day, Your Divine Tragedy (YDT) took 3rd in downloads, competing not only against other unsigned bands, but also national acts like Mae, Sparks The Rescue, and The Audition and other Victory Records bands for cash prizes, totaling $45,000 in payouts.

The national exposure this promotion provided for these bands was the real benefit, giving these hard working musicians the opportunity to reach music fans who hadn't previously been exposed to their music.
YDT feels a great gratitude toward Sparks and the individuals that put this program together. 'They are helping us and other bands do what most smaller bands struggle to do themselves, and that is get their name out there in a big way. The influx of support we've gotten from places we didn't know we had support has been eye opening.'
The band took an early lead in votes and stayed near the top the entire contest. 'YDT has extremely loyal fans because we treat it as a family and they back us up.' Some of the things they did to promote the contest and Sparks were heavy use of facebook, myspace and twitter and the YDT street team. The band also hosted parties where they bought 'a bunch of Sparks' and had everyone vote who attended the party.

'At shows we have a laptop out and available and encourage everyone to vote right there on the spot, this worked out great.' YDT's frontman explained.

No word yet on Sparks plans for future promotions or digital download contests, but YDT feels that it was a successful marketing challenge for the band and looks forward to future relations with Sparks, both in a professional capacity and in a drinking capacity.
(All members of YDT and competing bands were verified as over 21 years of age prior to acceptance to this promotional opportunity.)
