Los Angeles, CA (Top40 Charts/ UMPG) - UMPG has signed prolific songwriter, producer and hit-maker of more than seventy Top 40 singles, Desmond Child, to an exclusive, worldwide co-publishing agreement. Desmond was previously signed to Kobalt Music Group.

Child's songs have led to sales of over 300 million albums worldwide, and in his three decades as a songwriter and producer he has been the hit-maker to some of the world's leading recording artists, including Bon Jovi, Aerosmith, Ricky Martin, Meat Loaf, Alice Cooper, KISS, INXS, Cher, Christina Aguilera, Hanson, Shakira, Mika, Joss Stone, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, and Robbie Williams, as well as having worked with a number of American Idol alumni such as Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, David Archuleta, and Adam Lambert. Child has been the creative force behind such No. 1 songs as: "Livin' on a Prayer," "Bad Medicine," and "You Give Love a Bad Name" recorded by Bon Jovi; and "Livin' La Vida Loca" recorded by Ricky Martin.

Most recently, Desmond Child co-wrote 'The Best Thing About Me Is You,' Ricky Martin's new studio track with Joss Stone, and has written a track for Bon Jovi. Other recent collaborators include Weezer, Margaret Cho, Tokio Hotel, Hilary Duff, and The Scorpions. He has also been developing an original musical titled 'Cuba Libre' and a musical film for DreamWorks.

UMPG Chairman/CEO David Renzer said, "We are thrilled to be reunited with Desmond, who continues to be one of the most talented and prolific songwriters working today. We look forward to working closely with him and adding to his catalogue of hits."

Desmond Child said, "What goes around... comes around! I'm so grateful to Evan Lamberg for signing me and thrilled to be back at home base with David Renzer and all my friends at Universal Music Publishing. Together we will make big things happen!"

"Universal Music Publishing Group could not be more honored to be working with one of the very best Songwriters Hall of Fame inductees and hit-makers of our generation," said Evan Lamberg, Executive Vice President, East Coast, UMPG. "I've known Desmond for many years and his work ethic, passion, and ability to continue to write worldwide hits will be a magical addition for all here."
