LOS ANGELES (Top40 Charts/ Steve Cooke Official Website) - From the first powerful refrain of "turn the radio on!" the opening line of the new single Radio, it's clear that Steve Cooke is rock music's new voice. Vocal comparisons to rock's great voices abound but make no mistake, Steve Cooke is an original. He is an accomplished guitarist and virtuoso on the 12-string guitar and songwriter in his own right - making him an all around artist and performer.
Cooke worked with legendary producer Bob Cutarella on cuts for the upcoming Radio album in addition to the single. The sessions took place at two of Hollywood's renowned recording facilities - the House of Blues Studios and Paramount Studios. The project was engineered by Grammy award winner Alfonso Rodenas & Doug Tyo and mixed by Doug Tyo.
"The chance to work with a voice that is so pure and a talent like Steve Cooke is a treat for any producer," said Bob Cutarella. "The body of work we created showcases all of Steve's talents and is sure to solidify his position as one of rock's great voices. To put it simply...that guy's got some pipes!"
Written by Michael Burtscher, Radio is a story of young love united by the power of radio and music. Steve is backed by an all star band including Monte Pitmann on guitar (Madonna/Adam Lambert/Prong), Marcus Brown on bass and keys (Seal/Madonna/Tina Turner), and Steve Sidelnyk (Seal/Madonna). Steve was recently nominated with Radio for Best Male Vocal at the Hollywood Music and Media Awards 2010.
Radio is already starting to make impact on the airwaves with radio stations in Texas and Colorado jumping on to support the track. Comments so far have been: "Wow, Wow, Wow" from music director Dawn Dale at commercial station KFAN. The track is available on iTunes.
A mini-movie music clip is in the works to support the single and Steve will be performing as a guest entertainer in Bel Air, Beverly Hills, Hollywood and special spots . Next year NAAM is already on the way as well as gigs at the House of Blues, The Viper Room, Whisky and Key Club.
The LA-based singer/songwriter's dynamic singing can be described as a mixture between Michael Hutchence and Steven Tyler. His musical style is a marriage of Blues, Hard Rock, Americana, and Acoustic music, topped with heavy choruses. His voice has an indelible effect upon the audience and is resonating a new era of popular music!
Go ahead...as Steve Cooke sings "Turn the radio on!!"
