New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ S&S Associates) - Essence is in town and she is breaking all conventional wisdom about female rappers. This Hartford, Connecticut reared, NY based indie artist is like the perfect storm. Those confluences of storms come together infrequently, but when they do you are witnessing a rare and unique phenomenon. Essence's Publicist, Tonya Payton, states: "It is a privilege to have the opportunity to work with such an amazing talent. We at S&S Associates, are cognizant of the challenges associated with a launching a PR campaign for a female rap artist. However, once we were presented with Essence, we immediately recognized that here was an artist we were willing to expend our time, energy, and our resources to publicize.

" While Essence has street credibility, she is the epitome of femininity and feline sensuality. Proud, aloof, intelligent, independent and always focused on the prize, Essence always lands on her feet no matter what the impediments placed before her. Essence, the creative lyricist and musicologist, shatters all misconceptions of what female rappers are supposed to be with her sophisticated sensuality and poise.

Essence's premier single "Unorthodox" produced by Sid "Omen" Brown of StadiumRed Studios (known for his work on Drake's latest album), featuring Maliqe, will drop in early January in preparation for her series of single releases. Essence, who writes all her music, says "this song is about the recent struggles that women have to face, especially when they are trying to pursue a career instead of the conforming traditional posture that society expects them to play." According to the burgeoning rapper, whose musical icons are Eve, Pink, Queen Latifah, Alicia Keys, Missy, Jay-Z, Mary J. Blige and Beyonce, the series of single releases in 2011 will be a compendium of situations that the Unorthodox Woman faces today. Essence's music has an edginess and attitude which informs her listening audience that she is the Mistress of her fate and the Captain of her soul.

This Rap Diva is the embodiment of an astute businesswoman with the founding of her own record company, De Essence Entertainment LLC. Limitless dreams, unbridled ambition, and an indomitable spirit, she is the quintessential woman of today who wants it all and is achieving it all at warp speed.
These are the elements that are driving Essence to rule the Hip Hop world.
Now that would be Unorthodox.
