San Francisco Singer/songwriter Aoede Releases New Album: Affair With The Muse Artist Perseveres Against Rare Disease While Inspiring Others
San Francisco, CA (Top40 Charts/ PRThatRocks) Lisa Sniderman, aka: Aoede (pronounced A-E-D), is a driven singer/songwriter who's one-in-a-million, but it's not only for the reasons one would expect. WomensRadio.com's recipient of a "Top Album of the Decade" honor, and "Top Artist of the Year" for 2008, in recognition of her CD release, Push and Pull, suffers from Dermatomyositis. Dermatomyositis, a rare connective-tissue disease for which there is no known cure, afflicts an estimated 5.5 people per million. It attacks and weakens the immune system, muscles and skin as well as the mind and spirit, and if left untreated, could result in complete muscle wasting and long-term disability, as well as other complications.

Aoede's condition, the onset of which inexplicably began in mid-2008, worsened in September 2010 to where she had to be hospitalized for 24-days of treatment and rehabilitation. She credits two forms of treatment that is helping her rebuild her body and spirit: Intravenous therapies and creating Affair with the Muse. Affair with the Muse is her second studio album of 7 new original songs, which will be available March 15, 2011 through iTunes and other music download sites.

In addition, Aoede has recently launched her newly redesigned website. AoedeMuse.com will not only allow fans to listen to and purchase her songs and delve into her complete body of work, but it will also act as an interactive source of strength and encouragement for those individuals who are going through the same, or similar, rare disease issues, where little information for and support among the afflicted exists.

To listen to Affair with the Muse, one would never suspect that the individual responsible for this radiant and inspirational body of work is now facing potentially unknown risks and rewards from innumerable years of radical and experimental treatments as part of ensuring a clean bill of health.

Aoede states, "A large part of my healing process is creating new music and connecting. I want to get these songs out now because I don't know what life is going to bring. Music is my lifeline. I cannot perform live for awhile; so I hope to reach those who feel helpless and alone and offer inspiration and support with every ounce of my soul."

The release of Affair with the Muse coincides with an announcement from Sonic Boom, a leading publisher of cross-platform interactive entertainment, that they will offer several Aoede tracks from Push and Pull as additional downloadable content for the recently released, Rhythm Zone, a new online music game that features never-before-seen game play dynamics. Aoede's music placement in Rhythm Zone, according to Chris Austria, Director of Licensing for IDC Licensing of San Francisco, "is featured prominently along with songs by iconic artists including, The Beatles, Lady Gaga, Michael Jackson, and The Rolling Stones."

A great deal of Push and Pull's success was attributed to the single, "I Lost You Win." In August 2010, the single charted at No 11 on the International Association of Independent Recording Artists (IAIRA) International Top 15 due to its wide acceptance and fan following established through worldwide play on American Airlines in-flight programming, international broadcast and streaming radio, such as Pandora, and distribution on countless indie songwriter compilation CDs, and Podcasts.

Fans of Aimee Mann, Sam Phillips, Fiona Apple, Ingrid Michaelson and Lucy Schwartz resonate with Aoede's prodigal and passionate songwriting skills that synergistically blend melody and lyric into compellingly captivating musical vignettes conveyed in her imitable breathy, bouncy, and enchantingly quirky soprano. Aoede's music, called "magic-making," by the SanFranciscoVoice.com, inspires, connects, and awakens through compelling, emotionally evocative and intelligent musical 'story-songs' that take you, shake you and wake you.

From the opening notes of Affair with the Muse's "Fairy Tale Love," defined by Aoede as, "one part Disney and two parts fractured fairy tale," the listener soars on heartfelt and earnest emotional updrafts through the six other tracks. The bouncingly pulsating "Does Your Heart Ever Stop Feeling," gives way to the erotically- charged "Crave Me," then into the swaying Parisian Cabaret-esque "If You Already Knew." With its liltingly-strummed ukulele, "Love Proof" personifies love as if it was a human character; the recipient of one's giddy and jubilant hopes and doubts. "Fall on Your Deaf Ears" is the poignant tale of a love that's on the rocks, but is not allowed to end, and the grand finale is, according to Aoede, "the uplifting, anthemic and inspirational kick-in-the-butt everyone needs every so often," "What You Got."

An avid philanthropist, Aoede is also a co-founder of WomenROCK (https://womenrocksf.wordpress.com), a Bay Area-based women-in-music advocacy group, and as a driven environmentalist she has collaborated with leading Bay Area documentary filmmaker and ocean conservationist, David McGuire (SeaStewards.org), and the Oakland-based EarthTeam.net.
