LOS ANGELES (Top40 Charts) "The King's Speech," was the big winner at Sunday's Academy Awards! The biopic snagged four statuettes including Best Picture, Best Actor (Colin Firth), Best
Director (Tom Hooper) and Best Original Screnplay.
Natalie Portman won Best Actress for her portrayal as a ballet dancer in "Black Swan." The early front-runner to the Oscars - "The Social Network" managed to win only two Oscars for Best Original Score and Best Adapted Screenplay (Aaron Sorkin).
Melissa Leo and Christian Bale both won Best Supporting Actress and Actor awards for their roles in the gritty drama "The Fighter."
Randy Newman found out that 20th times the charm at Sunday night's Academy Awards as he took home Best Original Song for We Belong Together from Toy Story 3.
It was Newman's twentieth nomination and only his second win, the first coming for the song If I Didn't Have You from the 2002 movie Monsters, Inc. Both Monsters and Toy Story were made by Pixar for Disney.
In the other Oscar music category, Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross took the award for Original Score for their work on The Social Network. Reznor is the frontman for Nine Inch Nails. Ross is a musician, composer and producer who has worked with Nine Inch Nails, Grace Jones, Bad Religion, Korn and others.
