Rival Schools Release New Video, Announce West Coast Dates

"[Rival Schools] have the power to move, inspire, and heal" -Revolver

Rival Schools recently released the video for their anthemic new single "Wring It Out" off their new album Pedals (March 8th; Photo Finish/Atlantic Records), which comes nearly 10 years after their beloved debut full-length United By Fate. The tongue-in-cheek clip finds the gentlemen of Rival Schools in the unenviable role of professional exorcists attempting to cure a young girl of her (literal) demons. Rival Schools just kicked off an East Coast run of tour dates, and are excited to announce new West Coast shows in May following a UK/Europe tour in March/April with Trail Of Dead. The band will play their official album release show tomorrow night at Santos Party House in New York City.

When Walter Schreifels, Sammy Siegler, Ian Love, and Cache Tolman joined forces they were touted a "supergroup," having played in bands like Gorilla Biscuits, Glassjaw, Youth of Today, Quicksand, Burn, CIV, and Iceburn, to name a few. With a shared desire to continue progressing forward from their roots in the hardcore scene, the guys crafted a sound that fused heavy rock of all varieties with anthemic melodies and sophisticated hooks. Some argued over whether to call their beloved quartet "alternative rock," "post hardcore," or a bevy of other labels that didn't quite fit, while others just rocked out and sang along. Pedals is an immensely satisfying second dose of what made the band so cherished when they first hit the scene, and serves a reminder of their influence on so many young bands active today.

*** Rebirth Brass Band Announce 'Rebirth of New Orleans' + Free MP3 Rebirth Brass Band Announce New LP - Rebirth of New Orleans (Apirl 12, Basin Street Records). Download "Do It Again" HERE

"A New Orleans institution since the 1980s, the Rebirth Brass Band updates the traditional strutting rhythms and continuous improvisation of New Orleans parades with an infusion of funk. It doesn't need microphones, amplifiers or anything but breath and rhythm to make a crowd jump." - The New York Times

Rebirth Brass Band is proud to announce the release of their new album, Rebirth of New Orleans, out April 12 via Basin Street Records. The new album was produced by GRAMMY(R) Award winner Tracey Freeman (Harry Connick, Jr., Kermit Ruffins). For a sample of what to expect, listen to "Do It Again."

Hailed by the New York Times as "a New Orleans institution," the Rebirth Brass Band have been at the forefront of the brass band revival that they helped kick off almost 30 years ago. Formed by the Frazier brothers, Phil and Keith, along with Basin Street labelmate Kermit Ruffins in 1983, the Rebirth Brass Band has gone from playing on corners in the French Quarter to selling out concert halls across the world and appearing in David Simon's HBO hit "Treme." It's been a long road, but the Rebirth Brass Band has become one of the most beloved brass bands in New Orleans and around the world.

Since their founding, they've developed a signature brand of heavy funk that they expand upon on their latest effort, Rebirth of New Orleans. Opener "Exactly Like You" starts the album off with a rollicking, Mardi Gras stomp. "The Dilemma" and "Do It Again" find the group locking in to a down-tempo, Latin-influenced grooves, anchored by Phil Frazier's tuba. And "Shrimp and Gumbo" and "Feelin' Fine" find the band effortlessly perfecting the New Orleans-style brass lines that put the city on the map.

Rebirth Brass Band were featured in the opening scene of David Simon's hit HBO show "Treme" as well as on the GRAMMY(R) nominated soundtrack. No band exemplifies the essence and soul of New Orleans like Rebirth Brass Band.
