New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Majestyc's Corner) If you haven't heard the music recently put out by up and coming artist Khepri, you are doing yourself an injustice. She is hard core, not theatrical, and puts the reality of life is when you have not been privy to the school of the Arts. We often hear the male perspective of the struggles in the hood and it has been a long time since a female has represented. The wait is over and the truth about the female struggle is being told. Khepri has been rapping and making beats for 15 years. I asked Khepri what made her want to be an artist and she replied, " Back in the day I used to watch Krush Groove like 10 times a day. In the early 90's male artists started bashing females. They had songs like, "I hate hoes, hoes hate me." I started writing from that point and it made me a local celebrity in my hood." Dealing with the struggles of having felony record, Khepri uses music as an outlet for stress and a testimony of her trials. "I had to find a positive way to release anger and music is my outlet. I speak from the heart and touch on subjects that are not heard of from a female." When asked what is her favorite song from her album, she had this to say; "My favorite song is F*em because it's all real, nothing fake and made up. It's not just a song. I woke up one morning and said, hmmm, let me write about my probation officer. It was written during an angry phase brought about by my legal issues at the time." The song I bob my head to is "Dey Tell Me." The link to the song is: https://www.reverbnation.com/play_now/song_7614187 Khepri's vs Nikki Minaj is good too.
