Suzi Quatro Emerges Victorious As Rockwired's April Artist Of The Month!!!
New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Rockwired Media) The polls have closed for Rockwired.com"s April Artist of the Month campaign. Listeners from all over the U.S. and around the world made their vote count and rock legend Suzi Quatro walked away the winner.

Rock n roll is full of female pioneers from Janis Joplin to Grace Slick to Debbie Harry to Pat Benatar but it was Quatro who proved for the very first time that a girl could sport leather, strap on a bass and let the good times roll. Quatro's fame came about in an age when women in "rock" didn't quite rock as much as they quietly and gently reflected on love and life - but this was the seventies of. Quatro's rock n roll swagger mixed with legendary songwriter and producer Mike Chapman's divine pop sensibility proved a potent mixture that brought Quatro to the top of the charts in the UK hit such monster hits as Can The Can, 48 Crash and Devil Gate Drive.

Chart action Stateside would come around until 1980 with 'Stumblin In' (a duet with Chris Norman) but before that, Americans knew the leather clad rock chick best as Leather Tuscadero on Happy Days. So much credit is given to female guitar slingers such as Joan Jett and Chrissie Hynde but it is important to remember that it was Quatro and her bad ass bass playing that kicked the door down in the first place.

Nearly forty years after being discovered by producer Mickie Most, Quatro has teamed up with MIKE CHAPMAN once again for her forthcoming CD 'In The Spotlight" where the grand dame of the rock n roll hook reminds everyone of how real rock n roll is done.

Other nominees for Artist of the Month included Derek Miller, Micki Free, The Mason Affair, Finlay Morton, Michael Olivieri and Epigene. Suzi secured 42% of the vote.

Rockwired.com will be launching its latest Artist of the Month campaign on April 1, 2011. Nominees for this latest wave include Yaiva, Danielle Bloom, Mass Chemistry, Joan Red, Tools of Creation, Laura Roppe and The Breaktone. Polling is provided by Micropoll and is as simple as making a selection and clicking 'vote'.

While there is no trophy or huge payday for being an Artist of the Month winner, the benefits that come along with the title include expanded coverage and promotion. An Artist of Month winner is awarded a month's worth of free site-wide advertising on Rockwired.com. A 60-second commercial spot promoting the winner and their album will be featured during every edition of Rockwired Radio Profiles for an entire month. The winner is also featured in a special edition of Rockwired Radio Profiles. Banners are also given to the winners to further promote their Artist of the Month status on their own website or press packets. Lastly, winners are mentioned on all Rockwired-related announcements/press materials.

"What can I say? A rock n roll legend like Suzi Quatro has graced Rockwired with her words and her presence and now, she is a Rockwired Artist of the Month" says Rockwired founder Brian Lush "It is so hard to put it into words so it is best to put it simply - SUZI just plain rocks and it is no surprise to me that she has walked away with the honor.
