New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Shore Fire Media) Jeff Beck's 2010 performances at The Iridium's "Les Paul Mondays" series launched a new chapter in the guitarist's storied career. His sets at The Iridium with The Les Paul Trio (and special guests including Trombone Shorty, Gary U.S. Bonds, and Brian Setzer) on what would have been Paul's 95th birthday were filmed for a new live CD/DVD, 'Rock 'n' Roll Party,' and have become the basis for his current Iridium Tour. "We all think that playing at the Iridium was Les' life-stretching experience," Beck said in a recent interview.
On May 13, The Iridium will host The Mahavishnu Project Plays the Music of Jeff Beck in celebration of the worldwide CD/DVD release of 'Rock 'n' Roll Party.' The first 100 fans in attendance will receive free copies of the DVD courtesy of The Iridium.
Rave reviews have been following Beck's current Iridium Tour every step of the way. Here's what critics are saying:
"Sleek, affectionate...summoning Paul's country-jazz flamboyance with skidding slides, bursts of speed and vertiginous trills." - New York Times
"While Beck's guitar gently weeped, the fans swooned." - The Washington Post
"An electric evening." - Pop Matters
About The Iridium:
Deemed "hallowed ground" by legendary guitarist Steve Miller, The Iridium stage has played a part in launching the careers of countless artists, though it may be known best as The Home of Les Paul. Called "The Father of the Electric Guitar," Paul performed at The Iridium weekly for more than 12 years until his passing in 2009. Today, the Les Paul trio continues on in his honor, showcasing the diversity of the electric guitar every Monday night with world class special guests that have included Jeff Beck, Zakk Wylde, Steve Miller, and Ted Nugent, who will perform May 16.
