NYC Rock Legend Garland Jeffreys Returns With First LP In 13 Years 'The King Of In Between' On June 7, 2011
New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Shore Fire Media) The New Yorker recently claimed that Garland Jeffreys "positively oozes New York," and never more so than on 'The King Of In Between,' his first album in 13 years. A bold statement from an artist who has been releasing music since the late '60s, 'King' leaps from hard-charging rock to classic blues to heady reggae. It's a reflection on vitality, as well as a lament and love letter to Jeffreys' hometown and the stomping ground of his youth, Coney Island. The new album will be released on June 7.

'The King of In Between' was co-produced by Garland and Grammy-winner Larry Campbell (Bob Dylan, Levon Helm), and mixed by Roy Cicala (John Lennon, Bruce Springsteen) of New York's legendary Record Plant. Garland was joined in the studio by known session players Steve Jordan, Mike Merritt, and Duke Levine, plus special guests Lou Reed, Duncan Sheik, and his own 14 year-old daughter Savannah.

'The King Of In Between' kicks off with the ripping single "Coney Island Winter," an opening salvo from an album teeming with propulsive grooves and evocative lyrics. Garland's voice is the star of the show here, his impressive range and penetrating falsetto breathing energy into each track.

Garland's list of collaborations is a reflection of his multi-genre spirit and he has worked with everyone from John Cale and Dr. John to Stan Getz and Sonny Rollins. He was one of the first Americans to record in Kingston, Jamaica, and his songs have been covered by hardcore punk legends The Circle Jerks and neo-folkies Vetiver alike.

Garland headlines the Highline Ballroom in NYC on April 30, and performs at Levon Helm's Midnight Ramble in Woodstock on May 7. More tour dates will be announced soon.
