'House' Star Hugh Laurie On The Cover Of Guitar Aficionado Magazine
NEW YORK (Top40 Charts/ Future U.S.) Hugh Laurie, better known to American audiences as the titular character on House M.D., is the cover star of Guitar Aficionado's May/June 2011 issue. Fans of Fox's long-running medical drama know that the curmudgeonly Dr. Greg House is as likely to pick up an axe and strum a few desolate notes as he is to solve a perplexing medical mystery in under 45 minutes - and sometimes, he does both simultaneously.

But House isn't alone in his love of Gibson Flying Vs and Les Pauls (both featured on the show). Laurie is a strummer off the set, too - making him the perfect choice to grace the latest cover of Guitar Aficionado.

In addition to sharing his collection of Fenders, Paul Reed Smiths and Martins with Guitar Aficionado, Laurie opens up to the magazine about his lifelong love of all things musical. Besides the guitar, Laurie plays the piano, the sax, the harmonica and the drums. He talks to Guitar Aficionado about how his bluesy debut solo album, Let Them Talk, out this fall, differs from the musical comedy he once often performed on the BBC.

He also demonstrates just how different he is from the guarded Dr. House: "With the music I'm playing now, there's nowhere to hide," he says. "I'm standing there at the mic, playing music I adore, and I'm baring my heart and soul. It's scary."

Guitar Aficionado (www.guitaraficionado.com) is the first magazine to celebrate the luxury lifestyle using a timeless icon, the guitar, as a common passion point. Guitar Aficionado highlights every aspect of the sophisticated lifestyle led by its cultured readers, from investing and world travel to fine wines and finer automobiles.
