Band Of Horses To Be Honored At 28th Annual ASCAP Pop Music Awards
NEW YORK, NY (Top40 Charts/ ASCAP) ASCAP (the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers) will honor Band of Horses at its 28th Annual Pop Music Awards, taking place April 27, 2011 at the Renaissance Hollywood Hotel in Los Angeles, CA. The group will be presented with ASCAP's Vanguard Award, which recognizes the impact of musical genres that help shape the future of American music, and will perform at the awards ceremony.

Past ASCAP Vanguard Award honorees include Beck, Beastie Boys, Nine Inch Nails, Arcade Fire, The All-American Rejects, The Killers, Jack Johnson, The Strokes, Modest Mouse, and Bjrk.

Also confirmed to perform at the event are some of ASCAP's Pop Award-winning songwriters, including Pat Monahan, solo artist and lead singer of the Grammy Award-winning rock band Train, and Josh Kear, who co-wrote the Grammy Award-winning song "Need You Now" by Lady Antebellum. The evening will also include a special musical tribute to rock icon Rod Stewart, who will be honored with ASCAP's Founders Award.

The invitation-only event salutes the songwriters and publishers of ASCAP's most performed pop songs of the previous year. Top awards will be presented to Songwriter of the Year, Song of the Year and Publisher of the Year.

Band of Horses is Ben Bridwell, Creighton Barrett, Ryan Monroe, Tyler Ramsey and Bill Reynolds. The band's latest album, the Grammy-nominated Infinite Arms was a collaborative effort that showcased the songwriting skills of all five band members and yielded the most focused and dynamic Band of Horses record to date. 2010 saw the band support the album with a world tour that included a run of dates with Pearl Jam, a surprise performance in New York City's Grand Central Terminal, a memorable appearance at Farm Aid alongside Willie Nelson and Neil Young, and triumphant gigs from Australia and Japan to the Arctic Circle in Norway. 2011 looks to be no different, as the band continues to tour and support the Brown Records/Fat Possum/Columbia release.
