Moviescore Media Releases Orchestral/Choral Fantasy Score For Hawk
New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Cinemedia Promotions) Moviescore Media (www.moviescoremedia.com) is proud to announce the release of the Hawk soundtrack composed by Stuart Hancock (One Night in Turin, Underground, EMR). Hawk is a 38-minute fantasy epic, directed by MJ McMahon and shot in North Wales, which recently debuted at BAFTA. The film is loosely based around Welsh folklore.

Stuart Hancock was born in 1975. He studied at Pomona College, California and Downing College, Cambridge and, in 1998, graduated with distinction from the Masters course in composing for film and television at the London College of Music (where he studied with film composer Nigel Clarke).Between 1999 and 2005, he was full-time with London music production company Mcasso, where he composed and produced music for all commercial media. He now works as a busy freelance composer and orchestrator of film, television, commercial, theatre and concert music from his studio in north London.

Hancock has won industry awards for his music and sound design on campaigns for the British Board of Film Classification, Burberry New York and the 2002 BBC World Cup coverage. He has also scored many films, both shorts and features: most notably EMR, which won the Raindance Film Festival and went on general release in the summer of 2005, following its Cannes premiere. 2001 saw the Royal Festival Hall premiere of his new score for the Hollywood silent movie Lucky Star, with the Tempus Chamber Orchestra. Stuart's soundtracks to three recent feature films - Underground, Bodyguard: A New Beginning and One Night In Turin - have been recently released.

The land holds many secrets, and one boy will learn them all.

When Rowan is taken away from the civilized world, his lessons in the wild begin. Yet when he shatters the balance of nature, Rowan discovers another world beneath our own. In that shadowy land of old gods and wild hunts, the divide between man and beast becomes uncertain and the fairy tales of childhood spring to life. With only the guidance of a hunting hawk, Rowan must make amends for his crime, and choose between what is real, and what is not.

"Music is such an important part of this short film, and every element was conceived to enhance the beauty of the landscapes you're seeing and the emotion and drama of the story you're being told," explained Hancock.

He continued, "The style of the score - dramatic, dark, epic - suited the look and story of the film." To achieve this Hancock enlisted the services of the Bratislava Symphony Orchestra, the Welsh choir Serendipity (winners of the 2005 Cor Cymru), and former harpist to the Prince of Wales Catrin Finch.

"Live human voices can deliver raw emotion and drama as well as scale to a soundtrack like nothing else can," described Hancock. "The lyrics are taken from Taliesin, a 6th century Welsh poet and bard, and are sung here in the original medieval Welsh language in which they were written."

Capture presents Hawk, a 38-minute short fantasy film that recently debuted at BAFTA. Hawk - Original Soundtrack from Moviescore Media will be available digitally and in stores on April 5, 2011.
