New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Da King DJ EJ Official Website) As a professional spinner of records, Da King DJ EJ (aka Eddie Bernard Jones Jr.) is a firm believer in launching your music in the streets, then the crowd in clubs, until you hit the jackpot, getting played on radio. That's exactly what he has done, and he's proud to be dubbed as the 'Street DJ of Hip-hop'.
This sensibility is a product of Da King's experience. From Cordele, Georgia, he started to dabble in becoming a deejay at 16. He cites Jammin Jay for controlling the 'wheels of steel', since he studied the pro's techniques and dissected his shows right after. In 2005, DJ EJ got his first official gig and from there, he realized he had the ability to select records that could make the residents of Cordele and the rest of Georgia could get down to. And after being his Shaq to DJ Treman's Kobe, Da King caught the attention of Georgia's club owners and he then ended up being the star deejay of Georgia's hot spot, The Club. DJ EJ gained a massive reputation, and his talent at the turntables and flair on the microphone, soon made Panama City's rap artist Mighty Mike take notice.
In Panama City, Florida, Da King performed with Mighty Mike and Rich Boy in concert, which was the big opportunity he needed to be offered as a card-carrying member of the group Hittmenn DJs, a prestigious DJ network - he even got to be part of Cool Runnings DJs with Bigga Rankin! Now a mainstay of two of the South's most prolific DJ coalitions, DJ EJ's hits keep on coming. Working now as a pro, DJ EJ was hired as the official DJ for Slip N Slide artists Qwote and Swazy Baby. 'Man, everyone was running from the streets trying to get radio gigs. I stayed in 'em and took advantage of all the open opportunities. Now it's paying off big for me,' Da King says. And paid his dues he did.
Even with all the accomplishments, so far, DJ EJ isn't resting on his laurels. With marketing executive Cal Repken, he created The Community, a network of diverse marketing entities which promotes music, talents, and products. Together with partners XCLUSIVETRAX and DS Media, Da King is set to keep pace with the big dogs of music in cyberspace and the real world. DJ EJ has worked with artists Plies, Blood Raw, Dunk Ryders, and Rasheeda, as well as budding talents J Baby, What Dey Do, Lord Zoe, Mighty Mike, Young Capone, Yola Da Great, and E Mackey - but trust that Da King won't end there. Da King DJ EJ is making sure he attacks the game from all angles. Because when it comes to music, he's in it to win it.
