'We are thrilled to have Mumford & Sons performing. Their live shows have quickly become legend because of the incredible energy, moving harmonies and pure joy that they bring to each performance,' said Tom Poleman, Senior Vice President of Programming & Marketing at Clear Channel Radio. 'We can't wait to host them and provide fans with an intimate, unforgettable performance.'
Mumford & Sons was formed in December 2007 by four young men from West London who bonded over their love of country, bluegrass and folk. The band includes Marcus Mumford (vocals, guitar, drums, mandolin); Ben Lovett (vocals, keyboards, accordion, drums); 'Country' Winston Marshall (vocals, banjo, dobro); and Ted Dwane (vocals, string bass, drums, guitar). Together, they create a gutsy, old-time sound that marries the magic of Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young with the might of Kings of Leon.
Mumford & Sons' hugely popular debut album Sigh No More was released in the UK in October 2009 and in the United States in February 2010. The album rocketed to No 2 on both the UK Albums Chart and the Billboard 200 and has sold over one million copies in the US. The band has scored several accolades during its short history, including two Grammy Award nominations – for Best New Artist and Best Rock Song ('Little Lion Man'). They also won the ARIA Music Award for Most Popular International Artist in 2010 and the Brit Award in 2011 for Best British Album.
Mumford & Sons will be part of the week-long Railroad Revival Tour with Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros and Old Crow Medicine Show, beginning April 21st in Oakland, CA. The band also will kick-off a 12-city headline tour in Kansas City, Missouri on June 3rd.
