'How To Become Clairvoyant,' Robbie Robertson's New Album, Debuts At No 13 On The Billboard 200, To Become The Highest Chart Debut Of His Solo Career
Santa Monica, CA (Top40 Charts/ 429 Records) Robbie Robertson's How To Become Clairvoyant (429 Records/Macro-Biotic Records) debuts at No. 13* on The Billboard 200 today, marking the highest debut and highest chart position for Robbie's solo works in his career. The album also debuted in the Top 5 of the Top Internet Albums (No. 4), Top Current Rock Albums (No. 5), Top Independent Label Current Albums (No. 5) and Independent Small Chain Core Stores (No. 2) charts and ranked No. 12 on the Top Digital Albums chart.

How To Become Clairvoyant is label 429 Records' highest-charting debut to date and is the highest debut of 2011 for the company's distributor, Universal Music's indie arm Fontana Distribution. The record entered the Top Current Canadian Album chart last week at No. 8. Two weeks ago How To Become Clairvoyant debuted in Japan achieving a Top 50 position on the country's "Original Confidence" chart. It is just now being released in Europe.

Robertson performed the album's first single, "He Don't Live Here No More," on "Late Show with David Letterman" and "The View" last week. The song is a multi-format hit, achieving #1 at Triple A, Top 15 at AC and Top 10 at Americana radio. This week he'll perform two songs on the BBC hit television program "The Jools Holland Show."

In the past two weeks, the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer has been the subject of features in Rolling Stone, The Wall Street Journal, USA Today, Billboard, The Huffington Post, Associated Press, Reuters, Relix, Mix, Sound+Vision and numerous other outlets. Robertson took over Sirius XM's The Loft as guest DJ for an afternoon and appeared on the nationally syndicated radio show "Rockline."

In a four-star review, Rolling Stone called How To Become Clairvoyant "Robertson's grand return...hypnotic." People awarded it three-and-a-half stars out of four, observing: "Robertson returns with his seductive powers in full effect." The New Yorker called it "thoughtful, as intimate as an Elliott Landy photograph" while USA Today featured Robertson on the cover of the "Life" section and described the album as "his best since his self-titled solo debut...as close to a musical autobiography as it's possible to get." How To Become Clairvoyant was named a "Parade Pick" and NPR Music gave it an exclusive "First Listen," noting: "If ever there was an album that was well worth a long wait, Robbie Robertson's fifth solo album is the one."

"Robbie's celebrated status as one of the true rock icons has been confirmed by the reception he's received for How To Become Clairvoyant," said Steven Vining, President, 429 Records/The Savoy Label Group. "It's one of the most important records of recent memory and everyone here at 429/SLG have been honored to be a part of it."

Noted Ron Spaulding, President of Fontana Distribution: "Robbie Robertson is one of the great songwriters/artists of our time and he has made a fantastic record. 429 Records did a tremendous job setting the release up worldwide and we are thrilled to be working with them to make the project such an international success. Clearly, the results of everyone's hard work speak for itself."

"Robbie Robertson's How To Become Clairvoyant chart debut proves that people are still interested in inspired record making and timeless songwriting," observed 429 Records executive Jared Levine.
