Benicia, CA (Top40 Charts/ World Projects) The Kasukabe Kyoei High School Wind Orchestra (106 students), one of the most talented school bands in Japan, will participate in World Projects New York International Music Festival at Carnegie Hall on April 26, 2011, at 8pm. Kasukabe is in the Saitama Prefecture just northwest of Tokyo. After the earthquake, the school expected that they would have to cancel participation in the festival because of school closings, damage to family residences, limited power and limited rehearsal time. Realizing that the trip would have a positive effect on the students, and the community that supports them, they have decided to travel as scheduled despite all obstacles. World Projects, an international organization based in California, produces concert tours and music festivals for youth ensembles worldwide and has decided to feature this exceptional group of students as the grand finale to their April 26 concert at Carnegie Hall. World Projects CEO, Deborah Gibbs said "We were so impressed by the determination and courage of the Japanese ensemble, World Projects decided to donate all ticket proceeds from the concert to the relief effort in Japan." World Projects has had a long relationship with music education in the North Pacific and the recent crisis will no doubt have a damaging effect on the music programs within the school systems of Japan. Upon arriving in the United States, the group will enjoy a workshop from one of New York's own maestros, Dr. James McRoy, at the Central Park West Ballroom, Sheraton NY Hotel and Towers from 11am -12pm on Sunday April 24th. The Japanese band will then warm up with a pops style performance on Monday, April 25 at 11:35am at the Central Park Band Shell, which is free and open to the public. This performance is part of the New York International Music Festival, produced by World Projects. Kasukabe Kyoei will present their final and most inspiring performance in Carnegie Hall's Stern Auditorium on the evening of Tuesday, April 26th. This concert will also feature talented ensembles from New York and Switzerland.
