North Carolinian Jim Quick Releases Debut Solo Album, Down South
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Top40 Charts/ Music City News Media & Marketing) Jim Quick who has established his musical reputation and permanent place at center stage in venues across the Southeast with a devoted group of concertgoers known as the "Coastline Crazies," will release his first solo album, DOWN SOUTH - Produced by music-master Gary Nicholson with the plan to take his divergent sound mainstream, the album will be released through iSuwanee Records/Quick-Warren Entertainment and available via all major digital outlets May 17, 2011. (Distributed by Hit Brothers Records/Sony Red Distribution.)

The album's fourteen tracks deliver what "Crazies" have come to expect from Quick: everything from hard-driving Carolina back-beats to Georgia Southern-rock, and Cajun inspired grooves to Texas and Delta blues. The patented sound of varied influences complemented by Quick's sharp-witted delivery will lure more fans, listeners of country radio, as the title track is released to radio April 25, 2011.

Jim Quick himself describes his music as "a virtual American collaboration of every facet of Southern musical culture: Country, Blues, Southern-Soul, Southern-Rock with distinctive hints of 'Appalachian' impressions and New Orleans 'Rag' Jazz-where the farm boy meets the frat house." While some may feel the bluesy-tinged music is an outlier on Country radio, Quick contends, "it ain't so."

"No artist likes being categorized," Jim explains."The evolution of Country is a broad spectrum of true, real American music of almost every genre. At first glance, I may appear to be a little out of the box, but the 'category' now has no boundaries. I'm just a good old country boy and I feel at home in the format and hope the country format opens the door with a big fat 'welcome!'"

Quick, who has perfected his live show, having been recognized by the Carolina Music Awards nine times as "Entertainer of the Year," was not intimidated when approaching his dream producer, Gary Nicholson, for the project.

"I knew I had to be innovative," Jim Quick chuckles. "I reached out to him through his web site and told him 'I have some of your money' - funny how quickly someone will get back to you after getting an email like that! From there, we met up in Nashville where we became acquainted-where we became friends-and realized we shared the same love for music. Gary played me a bunch of songs and that was that!"

DOWN SOUTH makes the ease and talent of the pair's working relationship evident. Also clear are the show-stopping special performances by Delbert McClinton, The McCrary Sisters, Bekka Bramlett and Nicholson. Featuring songs penned by Nicholson, McClinton, Billy Currington, Paul Overstreet, Randy Houser and more and titles like, "I'm A Dog" and "Don't Shoot The Snake," Quick segues the comic relief of Rodney Dangerfield and Barney Fife to a teddy bear tenderness in "Hurt That Bad" and "Forever Man." DOWN SOUTH is a smorgasbord to suit any music enthusiast's appetite.

As he gears up to take his single to radio later this month as part of the DOWN SOUTH promotional tour, Quick will level off his 300-plus show schedule nationwide. A CD release party is being coordinated to take place in Music City- Nashville in mid-May. Details to be announced.
