Cowboy And Indian To Play North By Northeast Music Festival On June 15, 2011
Detroit, MI (Top40 Charts/ Green Light Go Publicity) Cowboy and Indian, a rootsy seven-piece new on the Austin scene, will be joining the amazing line-up at this year's NXNE Music Festival on June 15. They will join The Dodos, Deerhoof, Hot Water Music, The Bouncing Souls, Anti-Flag, Dum Dum Girls, Evan Dando & Juliana Hatfield, Braids, Ty Segall, Suuns, PS I Love You, Crocodiles, Wild Nothing, The Pack A.D., Metz, Dirty Beaches, Forest City Lovers, The Luyas, Lower Dens, Gentlemen Husbands, Rusty, Royal Bangs, Julianna Barwick, No Joy, Prince Rama, Doldrums, Secret Cities, Evening Hymns, Snowblink, Parlovr, Talk Normal, PUJOL, Woodsman, Gauntlet Hair, Joey Cape, Tape Deck Mountain, AIDS Wolf, Houses, CJ Ramone, and Kevin Seconds. Devo, Descendents, Stars, The Pharcyde, Men Without Hats, Digable Planets, Twin Shadow, OFF!, Art Brut, Shad, Land of Talk, Chad VanGaalen, and Cults for this year's festival.

Cowboy and Indian, who have earned comparisons to the legendary Carter Family, began when Jazz Mills (T-Bird and the Breaks) got together with Jesse Plemons to write their first song. The collaboration took off and before long the pair was drawing major buzz at SXSW. Daniel James (frontman of SF-based Leopold and His Fiction) soon joined the band to complete the trio. "We came together out of nowhere and were immediately inspired by one another," Mills said.

The band is currently working on their first full-length album produced by James and due out this spring. They recently recorded their video for "Ledbellies" (featured on taste-maker blog Baybridged.com) while on their cross-country tour, using playful footage captured in Chicago and on the banks of Lake Michigan. The band's song "Trouble Tracks" was recently featured in an episode of the NBC hit series Parenthood.

Now in its seventeenth year, North by Northeast Music Festival and Conference (NXNE) has become the Canadian festival destination for unsigned bands, indie favorites, and major-label headlining artists alike. Seen as the most anticipated summer music event in Canada, NXNE Music, NXNE Film, and NXNE Interactive are an essential gathering for artists, industry and fans. For five days and nights, NXNE Music offers the hottest music and the freshest music-related ideas-all within a few km of each other. NXNE 2010 presented over 625 international, national and local acts at 50 official festival stages in downtown Toronto's famous club district. More than 280,000 music fans attended the festival.
