SiriusXM's LGBT Channel OutQ Celebrates Super Pride Weekend 2011
New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ SiriusXM Radio) Sirius XM Radio (NASDAQ: SIRI) will celebrate Super Pride Weekend 2011 with special programming on 24/7 LGBT channel OutQ (ch. 108), including an all-star DJ tribute to the iconic Paradise Garage disco, a revealing interview with global pop queen Kylie Minogue and the launch of a new series co-hosted by veteran DJ/producer Nicky Siano and OutQ's Larry Flick.

OutQ's Super Pride Weekend 2011 programming will include:

  • All-night club party tribute to the iconic Paradise Garage disco with legendary DJs David DePino Xtravaganza and Joey Llanos. The Paradise Garage was notable in the history of modern pop culture for cultivating a distinctive sound that merged vintage disco with cutting-edge house music, and it was the birthplace to such legends as the late DJ/producer Larry Levan and Mel Cheren, whose West End Record label became synonymous with the "garage sound." DePino Xtravaganza and Llanos were part of an all-star tribute to the Paradise Garage in New York City earlier this year, and OutQ will air this "reunion party" beginning at 10:00 pm ET on Saturday, June 25 and Sunday, June 26.
  • DJ/producer Nicky Siano-who masterminded three-turntable club-mixing at such landmark disco-era venues as Le Jardin, the Gallery and Studio 54-will debut his new OutQ series Behind the Grooves on Saturday, June 25 at 9:00 pm ET. On the show, Siano and co-host Larry Flick will weave memories of the early days of disco and the LGBT movement with classic '70s hits and rare musical treasures. An encore presentation of the Behind the Grooves premiere airs Sunday, June 26 at 9:00 pm ET.
  • Special edition of Feel the Spin with Larry Flick featuring a wide array of in-depth interviews with music icons, including an intimate conversation with global pop diva Kylie Minogue in which she shares never-before revealed details of her battle against breast cancer, her dramatic split from her career-launching relationship with UK songwriting and record producing trio Stock Aiken Waterman and her evolution to her current status as one of the top-selling recording artists in the world. Feel the Spin will also feature a rare interview with dance music legend Martha Wash, who will trace her history as one-half of The Weather Girls, her long-time association with Sylvester and well as her controversial tenure as the voice of C+C Music Factory and Black Box. Wash will also perform her new single, "I've Got You," along with one of her classics. Adding to the festivities, pioneer turntable artist Warren Gluck contributes a set to Feel the Spin that pays homage to another historic New York disco club, The Saint. Gluck's tunes will take listeners on a musical voyage back to The Saint's Super-Pride Tea-Dances that played to millions of men and women during the '80s and '90s. Feel the Spin kicks off Sunday, June 26 at 2:00 pm ET.
  • Iconography: Larry Kramer: throughout super-pride weekend, OutQ will air the latest in its Iconography series, Iconography: Larry Kramer, which offers an intimate look at the life and work of the playwright, author, public health advocate, and LGBT rights activist. Kramer sat down for this candid, in-depth discussion in the New York City apartment where he formed Gay Men's Health Crisis (GMHC) in 1980 and AIDS Coalition to Unleash Power (ACT UP) in 1987. In this one-hour special, Kramer reveals the events that put him on the path to becoming one of the most profound and influential voices in gay history and offers insight into the creation of his acclaimed play The Normal Heart, which is currently enjoying a Tony-winning revival on Broadway. Iconography: Larry Kramer airs Saturday, June 25 at 1:00 pm and 7:00 pm and Sunday, June 26 at 12:00 pm and 7:00 pm, all times ET.

SiriusXM OutQ offers groundbreaking coverage of social and political issues, as well as music and entertainment programming, produced by and for the LGBT community. Visit www.siriusxm.com/outq and follow OutQ on Twitter @outq for more information.
