LOS ANGELES (Top40 Charts) -
O-Town has landed the coveted opening slot on Britney Spears's fall tour, which kicks off October 26 in Miami. The group's reality-television show Making The Band recently completed its second season on ABC.
O-Town members Jacob Underwood, Erik-Michael Estrada, Dan Miller, Trevor Penick, and Ashley Parker
Angel signed with Clive Davis's new label J Records last September, after which they began recording with several of music's hottest pop writers and producers, including Warryn Campbell,
Diane Warren, Steve Kipner, and Desmond Child.
Underwood told that much of the success of O-Town's self-titled debut is due to Davis, the CEO of J Records: "When we sat down initially to plan out the album, we sang for him. He started learning more about us and all of our different styles and wanted to accent that, and went to some of the biggest writers in the world. He was pulling favors for songs and just trying to make this album as good as he could. We had a lot of just really cool opportunities on this album, and Clive Davis did an awesome job picking out songs."
Meanwhile, Davis said of the fivesome: "If it just takes having a television show, then anybody that stars in a television show could make an album and have hit singles, and that has not happened,'' he said. "There is something extraordinarily unique here in O-Town."
O-Town's "All Or Nothing" is currently at Number 12 on the Billboard Hot 100. In addition, the group's new single, "We Fit Together" from the Dr. Doolittle 2 soundtrack, has now been added to their debut album.
