NY (Top40 Charts) - Kinks frontman Ray Davies will kick off a solo tour on September 18th in Philadelphia. The twenty-three-date jaunt will wrap up on October 25th in Seattle. Look for Davies to showcase some new material that he's been working on with Hoboken, New Jersey indie-rock darlings Yo La Tengo.

One year ago Davies unveiled nine new tunes -- "The Morning After," "The Deal," "Next Door Neighbor," "Vietnam Cowboys," "Empty Room," "Otis Riffs," "My Diary," "Thanksgiving Day" and "Stand Up Comic" -- with the band during a three-night engagement at the Jane Street Theater in New York City.

At the time, Davies said he was planning on recording a solo record, a first, though his projection of a 2001 release seemed optimistic. "I'm not saying its going to be a lounge record," he told Rolling Stone, "but I am writing a song called 'The Las Vegas Symphony.' This whole record is going to be about transients. I'm very passionate about what's happened to England, but I'll never fit in anywhere. I don't feel accepted in my homeland, and I don't feel like I want to accept my homeland anymore."
