New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Shore Fire Media) The American Association of Independent
Music ("A2IM") joins our music community creator colleagues and their artists in thanking and applauding the
Internet Service Providers who have agreed to participate in the Copyright Alert Program.
A2IM's music label community includes 283 Label members and 154 Associate members (those that provide services to and support the independent music label community), companies of all business sizes across the United States - from Mountain Apple in Hawaii to Fania, Pandisc and Tropisounds in Miami, Florida - representing the many different musical genres reflective of the cultural diversity of our country. All of our label members have one thing in common, they are all small and medium sized businesses who, along with their employees, are passionate about music and are trying to make a living creating and investing in the continued creation of music. This has become financially difficult given the current levels of unauthorized, non-paid acquisition of music.
Said Rich Bengloff, President of A2IM, "We applaud the Copyright Alert Program which will help reduce the financial distress being experienced by our independent music label community so that our members and their artists can continue to create and invest in the music they love."
A2IM especially wants to thank our music creator community colleagues at the RIAA for leading this initiative from the music industry perspective and for consulting with and keeping us in the discussions throughout the process. We thank them for including A2IM members, and their artists, who wish to participate on a parity basis in the Copyright Alert Program, while still recognizing the different resources of our respective music label communities. We can not thank the RIAA enough for both their leadership and inclusion, and for their support of the independent music label community, in helping bring all sides together on a mutually constructive basis that works for all parties, the ISP's and the music creator community, as well as ensuring fair and equal treatment of the consumers and fans that support our member's musical creations.
