Indonesia Festival 2011 Unveils All-star Entertainment Lineup: Air Supply, Raheem Devaughn And World Record-breaking Angklung Performance
Washington D.C. (Top40 Charts/ Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia) The Embassy of Indonesia announced today an all-star lineup of events and performances for Indonesia Festival 2011. Air Supply and Grammy-nominated singer Raheem DeVaughn will headline the event on Saturday, July 9, 2011. From 1.00 to 9.30 p.m. on Washington's National Mall, the free event will offer attendees a taste of Indonesian food, music, dance and martial arts, and the opportunity to set a new GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS record by performing in the largest angklung ensemble ever assembled.

A chance to make history, the record-breaking attempt will take place between 5.30 and 7.00 p.m. on the north lawn of the Washington Monument. All participants will be trained to play the angklung, a traditional bamboo instrument, by internationally-acclaimed Maestro Daeng Udjo. Each player will be given one of the 5,000 instruments commissioned for the festival and presented with an official certificate if the record is set.

Indonesia Festival 2011 will also offer attendees a cultural sampling from the more than 300 ethnic groups that contribute to Indonesia's rich diversity.

"It may surprise our guests to learn that Indonesia is actually the world's fourth largest country because only 3,000 Indonesians reside in the D.C. Metro area," said Ambassador Dino Djalal. "Indonesia Festival 2011 is a perfect opportunity to celebrate multiculturalism and share with Washington the food, dance and music of our nation's more than 230 million citizens."

Highlights from Indonesia Festival 2011's schedule of events include:

1.00-4.30 p.m.: Exhibition and multicultural dance, martial arts and multicultural music performances.

4.30-5.30 p.m.: Performance by Washington native and Grammy-nominated singer Raheem DeVaughn.

5.30-7.00 p.m.: Angklung concert for GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS.

7.00-8.00 p.m.: Special performance by 80's sensation Air Supply.

8.00-9.30 p.m.: Indonesian music by Malik D'essentials, Sherina, Balawan and Elfa's singers.

Free for all, Indonesia Festival 2011 will take place on the north lawn of the Washington Monument from 1.00-9.30 p.m. on Saturday, July 9, 2011. Though registration is not required, the Embassy of Indonesia recommends that attendees register to participate in the GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS record-breaking attempt.
