WiMP by Aspiro Music wins Meffys 2011 for Best Music Service
STOCKHOLM, SWEDEN (Top40 Charts/ Aspiro Music) Aspiro's music streaming service WiMP was named the winner of the category Best Music Service at the Meffys last night. The global awards for mobile content and commerce was celebrated at the annual gala awards dinner in London's Covent Garden. Following its success in Scandinavia, and over 300,000 paying users so far, Aspiro is now preparing for new market launches later this year.

WiMP was named the winner of the prestigious Meffys award, which profiles the latest innovative music services that exploit the mobile platform's unique attributes and provide an affordable and enjoyable consumer experience. WiMP met the judges criteria, namely looking for a service that meets the consumers' insatiable demand for music discovery, sharing and access whilst demonstrating a clear and sustainable business model. Main factors of the motivation includes innovation - technical, creative or commercial, achievement of original objective, use of mobility, accessibility and ease of use across multiple platforms, quality of experience, quantifiable business benefits and proven success in the market.

'We are very glad and honored to receive the recognition of the Meffys panel of judges, and are now looking forward to bringing our service to many new users in our existing and new markets. Unlimited access to millions of songs, with local editors and smart functionality to guide users through the huge library of music has proven a success so far,' says Aspiro's CEO Gunnar Sellæg.

The Meffys finalists were selected over five days of live judging by experts from 40 national and industry media, as well as analyst houses. Also nominated in the Best Music Service Category was: Hungama Mobile for Aircel MusicConnect, Omnifone for Sony's Music Unlimited powered by Qriocity, Qatar Telecom for Backstage Mobile Music and Shazam.
