Beatport Debuts New Digital Music Retail Experience To Empower DJs; HTML5 Site Marks A New Era For The Music Store; Significant Growth For Dance Music Genre
DENVER, CO. (Top40 Charts/ JayRay Communications) Today, Beatport (https://www.beatport.com), the world’s largest music store for DJs, launched a fully re-engineered site in HTML5. The upgraded site allows DJs to quickly find distinctive music that will inspire their creativity and differentiate each set. The shopping experience is tailored to DJs in every way, including the addition of track pages illustrating song key, beats per minute (BPM) and waveforms.

"DJs come to Beatport to find unique tracks that will make their sets unique, just like they used to scour neighborhood record stores," said Matthew Adell, CEO of Beatport. "The new Beatport experience confirms our commitment to furthering and preserving the art of DJing."

Engagement on Beatport.com reflects the growing popularity of Electronic Dance Music. Last quarter, Beatport.com had more than 5 million visitors which is a year over year increase of 31 percent. The average shopping session is one hour and average cart purchase is $17. Beatport also fosters the Electronic Dance Music community through its active Facebook and Twitter networks cumulatively reaching more than 584,500 fans.

"Electronic music is coming out of the underground and igniting the world," said chart-topping DJ and producer David Guetta. "Dance music is redefining our pop culture and no other site caters to it like Beatport."

The following features make Beatport unique to other digital retailers, and were built with feedback from the Beatport community in mind:

- Personalized recommendations: Beatbot is a track-to-track recommendation engine geared towards helping DJs discover new music for their sets by analyzing DJ Charts from the most influential DJs in the world, the user's preferences and history.

- Track detail pages: All-new track detail pages display BPM, song key, and waveforms, in addition to providing cleaner options for sharing tracks on Facebook and Twitter.

- Key commands: Discover new music and navigate the site at lightning speed using keyboard shortcuts.

- Extensive filters: On average, Beatport adds 20,000 new tracks each week, thousands of which are exclusive to Beatport. To easily find new music, DJs can use an extensive set of filters to sort by dozens of subgenres, release timing, popularity and even more.

- Improved access: The HTML5 version of Beatport allows for availability on a wider range of devices.

The re-engineered site makes Beatport faster, smarter and more flexible for updates in the future. For customers not ready to upgrade, the Flash site is still available.
