Jack Phillips & His Band To Appear At The Knitting Factory In NY
New York, NY (Top40 Charts, Jack Phillips official website) Jack Phillips and his band will be appearing at The Knitting Factory in Brooklyn on Wed., August. 31st at 7pm. The band consists of Jack Phillips on piano and vocals, Matt Scharfglass on bass, and Dave Silliman on drums. Jack Phillips will draw from his five releases, including two albums and three EPs.

Jack Phillips has been described as "Warren Zevon meets Billy Joel... a great singer-songwriter with a rock n' roll edge." Jack's music can be purchased from iTunes and other online retail outlets.

About Jack Phillips
Jack Phillips is an artist who just gets better and better. He has been creating warm, heartfelt rock and pop music for most of his life. And his long musical journey has now seen him create a truly memorable record in the form of second album ‘To Whom It May Concern'. He spent almost ten years making his first album - ‘Revival Time' - while also working in a San Francisco piano bar called "The Curtain Call" on Union Street.

That 1999 record earned Jack much critical praise, a four-star review in The All Music Guide. The album, with lyrics by Blake Silverstrom, was pure performance art, a concept album and a rock opera that will be staged one day. The new album, "To Whom It May Concern," with lyrics by Jimmy Russell, is an homage to growing up and accepting responsibility. The title track is a prayer "for those who are no longer there" -- giving thanks to family who came before us as we provide for the next generation. The Jack Phillips sound is as warm and familiar as an old friend, but the new album is still home to some of the freshest writing you're likely to hear.

Lead single ‘Winter Keeps Us Warm' has already been named as Iman Labadebi's top track on his blog rocknycliveandrecorded.com, while other tunes such as the title track and the heart-worn "I Can't See" demonstrate Jack's never-ending versatility as musician and performer. As an album, ‘To Whom It May Concern' is as mature, honest and well-crafted a piece of music as you are likely to hear for a very long time. Recently, Jack released a two-song EP called "Alowishus Para Tomas" in tribute to a friend who died in January 2011. Along with the five additional bonus tracks consisting of out-takes from the "To Whom It May Concern" sessions and a couple of long forgotten instrumentals, this EP brings Jack fully up to date.

Plans are underway for a number of upcoming projects, including the 25th Anniversary remastered re-release of "Portrait," a 7-track instrumental EP Jack recorded in 1986. This EP will contain an additional bonus track recorded during the same era. Also, Jack will be in the studio soon to record a number of songs he and Jimmy Russell wrote for a Nashville artist in the mid-2000s. Further, a Live CD and DVD are being prepared for release, recorded at The Metropolitan Room in September 2010. And finally, Jack will return to the studio in 2012 to begin work on a new studio album for release later in 2012.
