LOS ANGELES (Jessica Simpson Fans Website) - Jessica Simpson will play Daisy Duke in the big screen version of 'The Dukes of Hazzard'. The short shorts are so close, Jessica Simpson can almost feel the snug denim. After meeting with the producers of the upcoming "Dukes of Hazzard" feature adaptation, America's favorite newlywed revealed to MTV that landing the part of Bo and Luke Duke's hot cousin is imminent, although no formal offer has been received yet.
"The Daisy Duke role is getting closer and closer," says Simpson. "You never know what's gonna happen, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed that after the tour I will go straight into being Miss Daisy."

The 23-year-old will wrap up her summer "Reality" tour at the beginning of August. If Simpson gets the part, it would mark her silver screen debut. This would be good news since sources say that her ABC sitcom has been scrapped.
Also, this would be a triumph over her pop rival Britney Spears, who was seen as a strong contender for the part.
